Spiral Socks
Materials: Worsted weight yarn
#4 needles (or whatever you need to get the socks to look
the way you want)
Cast on a multiple of 8 sts. (Jean used 40.)
Work K4, P4 for 4 rounds.
On 5th rnd, work P5 once during rnd so ribs move over 1 st.
Continue K4, P4 moving ribs every 5th rnd, to desired length.
Change to dpns, if you've started out with a circular needle. (I'm
using dpns throughout.)
Toe: Put 1/2 of sts on 1st needle, 1/4 on each of other 2.
First needle: K1, ssk, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
2nd ndl: K1, ssk, K to end.
3rd ndl: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Decrease as above every other rnd until toe is narrow enough. Weave
sts together.

SUPER EASY AND FAST SPIRAL RIB SOCKS
Materials: 2 skeins Wool Ease or any worsted yarn
4 double pointed needles, size 4
Gauge: 6 stitches to an inch in unstretched spiral ribbing
Cast on 48 stitches and join work on doubled pointed needles. Do Knit 3, Purl 3 ribbing for 4 inches. Begin next round with P1, K3 and continue in K3, P3 ribbing. Work 3 more rounds. Begin next round with P2, K3 and continue in K3, P3 ribbing. Work in this manner, moving the rib stitches over one stitch every four rounds. (Don't worry about screwing this up - I've noticed that if you use dark yarn you don't notice as much if you begin the next round one row late or early. <grin>) Work until sock is about 16 inches long total. Knit one round even. On next round, K1, K2 together. Repeat these two rounds until 8 stitches remain. Run yarn through stitches twice. Weave in yarn end. Now make another right away or you'll be left with only one sock.
